Jeremy Gifford's Website

Jeremy's Professional History

The original motivation for this page was to dynamically pull my resume content from LinkedIn through integrating with LinkedIn's API. Ihave, instead, decided to write unique content for this page, taking a more personal description of the fields below.

A few years ago, I stumbled upon a web-developer's personal site which pulled her actual resume content from her LinkedIn profile before displaying it how she wanted. (Sadly, her website is no longer live.) I still thought the concept was a cool idea throughout the years since. Unfortunately, now that I am finally getting around to building my own implementation, LinkedIn has since changed their public API permissions to only allowing access for a very brief number of fields. considered implementing a website content-scraper with PHP to pull the missing fields, but decided against that after reviewing LinkedIn's terms of service and the various technical measures they have put in place to prevent scrapers.

Education

  1. Western Governor's University

BS in Information Technology with a Software Emphasis

    2014 - 2017

  2. B.S. Information Technology degree program is composed of five primary areas of study: systems and services, networking and security, scripting and programming, data management, and the business of IT. I received all of my programming certs during this curriculum (an aside: the Oracle JAVA Programmer cert was definitely the hardest I have ever done - Cisco's certs included). While most of the degree's curriculum wasn't new to me, I hadn't delved so deep into enterprise software development and database architecture before. Project management was another eye-opener for me.

  3. Cuesta College

    Computer Network Administration

    2008 - 2010

  4. Completed 33 semester credits while concurrently enrolled in Highschool. I really enjoyed classes covering micro-architecture (computer structure fundamentals and assembly programming), C programming, BICSI fiber installation, wireless networking, CompTIA A+ prep, and Cisco Networking Academy. The Cisco Networking Academy courses on CCNA really kicked my butt, it was the only tech class that I didn't at least get an A grade on. Luckily, subnetting finally clicked while I was covering the material again for the Army - everything was pretty easy to grasp after that. I had a blast taking the classes being surrounded by fellow computer geeks.
